Emerging Technologies for Independent Living at the national ASA/NCOA Aging in America 2009 Conference

Emerging Technologies for Independent Living at the national ASA/NCOA Aging in America 2009 Conference

HealthTech Founder and CEO Molly Coye and Senior Advisors David Lindeman and Barbara Harvath will conduct a Hot Topics panel on Emerging Technologies for Independent Living at the national ASA/NCOA Aging in America 2009 conference. The session is slated for Wednesday March 18th from 8-9:30 am.

Technology has been championed for its potential to improve the well-being of older adults and persons with disabilities. However, with recent advances in the field, emerging technologies will be even more important as a means of improving the independence and health of older adults through enhancements in medical devices, information and communication technologies. This session will address technologies that are used in home- and community-based settings, drawing upon innovative community-based programs that include remote patient management and monitoring, medication management, assistive technologies, disease management, family caregiver communication, sensors, point-of-care testing, electronic medical records, and decision-support and advance directive software.

It will be an opportunity for HealthTech to share some of its current research on technologies that foster independent living for persons with disabilities and the aging with American Society of Aging and the National Council on Aging leadership and membership.

ASA/NCOA has placed this session in their hot topics category and is expecting a large turnout for this session at their annual conference on Aging in America in Las Vegas March 14-19, 2009.
