HealthTech is pleased to announce research on Future Environments for an Aging Society. To introduce this project and its objectives to our partners, we will be holding a webinar on April 15, 2009 from 8:00am – 9:00am, PDT.

Webinar objectives:

• Review the goal of the research: Identify emerging technologies, design innovations, and service innovations that promote independence within future environments for older adults and persons with disabilities
• Provide an overview of the key research questions and HealthTech’s research methodology
• Introduce a timeline of deliverables and events associated with the project

This webinar consists of:

• A 45 minute presentation by HealthTech staff
• A 10 minute interactive Q&A session
• Support materials available to participants before each Webinar
• Rebroadcast available within 3 days

To sign up for the webinar, log in to the HealthTech website and click on the sign up tab under the event. A registration confirmation will be emailed to you shortly.

This research will culminate in an Expert Panel on Future Environments for an Aging Society, which will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in San Francisco.

Expert Panel Objectives:

• Identify trends, technologies and innovations that will impact built environments to support independent living
• Identify gaps in HealthTech forecasts over the next 10 years and challenge our assumptions
• Explore and expand upon the forecast’s proposed timelines and scenarios

The panel meeting will be held from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Time at the San Francisco State University Downtown Campus. Breakfast and lunch will be provided; there will also be a reception from 5:00-6:00 PM on the day of the meeting. Interspersed throughout the day are time slots for breaks and Question-and-Answer sessions during which observers and panel members can discuss issues of common interest. Observers are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.

There will be a limited number of seats available for Partners to observe our Expert Panel discussion. As an observer, you will have the opportunity to gain insight from the discussion and also to network with panelists and other observers. If you would like to attend the expert panel in-person, please sign up by logging onto the HealthTech website (www.healthtech.org), clicking on the “Signup” tab above this event, then clicking on the “signup” button. Please note that signing up online does not guarantee your attendance. As space is restricted, partners are limited to two spots. We will review registration and send a confirmation email soon after sign-up.
